Perhaps some parts of your job are getting to you?

It is normal to feel numb in a situation that is actually distressing.

Hi Silas, what you describe is the main indicator of depression. Since you live in a big metropolitan area, it should not be hard to find some help. You should get it, because untreated major depression can lead to at the least, many missed life opportunities, and at the worst, well... imagine what the worst would be. Be good to yourself and get with a doctor of some sort ASAP. Even your regular doctor would be a good start. You do not have to live like this.

huh? oh yeah, i guess so. i don't know. i guess i'm pretty apathetic. it hits me at strange times. sometimes i'm just sitting there adn suddenly i get so apathetic that i can't even move. i mean, like now. i mean, i can move my fingers but the rest of me is like, i don't know, just, you know. i've always been apathetic, you know, from a very young age. when i was littel i was so apathetic i had to have an inhaler because i couldn't breathe. my mom had to write a letter to my gym coach and excuse me from sports because i was apathetic and couldn't get enough air to my lungs when i did a sit-up or run or a push-up or walk.
i'm still pretty apathetic but i don't use my inhaler so much anymore because it makes my neck break out in a rash. does anyone else that's apathetic break out in a rash on their neck?

Clenbuterol, was that it? thats what hollywood starlets take to keep skinny. true story.

The worst part of apathy is body image, I once ate an entire half a pizza because I wanted to show my inner rage outside.

I mean, then I took care of it, but I'm getting the much needed help for that, which is another problem all together

Why would you want to do anything about that? If you can't feel pain, love, etc. then you won't ever feel bad, right? My friend has no ability to care deeply. He focuses on having fun, activities, and purchasing new coll toys. It's not so bad seeing him so happy, relax, and calm. When some negative events happen, like a divorce, a death in a family, or an accident, he feel sad for a few minutes but he was able to move on fast. I wish I can be like him - to not feel any pain.
