I am currently dating a man who fits this category. When we are together he is extremely loving and caring; but when we are apart, his tendency is to isolate himself. We only get together on his terms. I love him dearly and want to help...what can i do?

I would try to get him to go to a doctor so he can be diagnosed properly. Start by just talking to him.

My son was just diagnoised with this if you can get him to go for treatment will be good these types dont think there is anything wrong with them. But many that isolate themselves hear voices and if your not around all the time you may not notice this but it is a life long illness believe me and very hard if your not in for a long haul you had better get out now cause it takes years to get them on the right medicine and in house treatment is the best for at least a year to begin. My son was diagonised wtih bi-polar first and we just recently found out this is not what he has it has been devastation to our whole family he has a new daughter born in april which he told everyone she had died we finally found out a few days after she was born it is so sad to watch this happen but we are all behind him and praying for help there are so few places that they can get help that is most of the population in prison no one recgnises these symptoms so they are returned back on the street only to get worse or sent back. i hope you can get him the help he needs
