I feel stupid writing this as I'm a successful middle aged male with a happy home life, good wife, family, responsible respected job and many varied interests..... but I am finding it all threatened by my addiction to chat on the internet. How sad is that!
If I were reading this, I can hear myself saying pull yourself together, get a life, and all the other comments we tend to aim at "sad, weak" people. Now I find myself one of them.
I guess I have been using internet chat in some form for 5+ years and its difficult to say exactly when it started to become a problem but I guess now I spend upwards of 8 hours a day on chat, often much more to the detriment of my work, sleep and my relationship with my wife.
Perhaps there is some form of self help/support group in existence or people may want to start one... I'd be interested in any posts from people with help or who simply find themselves in the same situation and want to get out. |

Haha, I guess we shouldn't be that shocked given we are both addicts. So I am in the exact same situation as you....professional, have family, very busy, but a particular chat forum all day at work and at night when everyone is asleep. Very pathetic.
So tell me, have things been better? |

| hey guys i wanted to know if both of you were able to overcome it now? im interested to know if people like you addicted for more than a year still have a hope specially if they are married man? as i have read rv was married man and have kids.........but why you started with it? just like you seeking advice and opinion from other person........me too is seeking opinion from you.........it helps both when both sides are heard......ty!! |
